Licensed Child Care Center
A facility is licensed and regulated by the state Office of Licensing (OOL) for the care, development and supervision of six or more children under 13 years of age who are in care for less than 24 hours a day. Centers that are accredited by a national association are programs that have been recognized as high-quality programs. Centers participating in Grow NJ Kids, NJ's Quality Rating and Improvement System, are programs participating in quality activities to continuously improve their program to meet higher quality standards beyond licensing standards.
School Age Child Care (SACC)
A facility that provides child care for any child who is at least five years old. SACC programs operate on a regular basis during the school year providing before and/or after school care services. They may also provide care before and/or after school, during school holidays and during summer months. In many communities, local schools provide before/after-school care or will contract with another entity to provide school age child care.
Registered Family Child Care Provider (FCC)
A provider who cares for no more than five children at any one time in his or her home. This type of provider has satisfied basic health and safety requirements, whose home has been successfully evaluated and inspected and who has been issued a Certification of Registration by Rutgers Southern Regional CCR&R.
Family, Friend, and Neighbor Provider (FFN)
An individual who has been selected by a parent receiving child care assistance to care for his/her children in the provider’s home. The individual has been evaluated and the home has been approved by Rutgers Southern Regional CCR&R to care for the children of one family (not to exceed 5 children) or no more than two unrelated children for fewer than 24 hours of care per day.
Family, Friend and Neighbor In-Home Provider (FFN In-Home)
An individual who has been selected by a parent receiving child care assistance to care for his/her children in their own home. The individual has been evaluated and the home has been approved by Rutgers Southern Regional CCR&R to care for up to 5 children in their own home for fewer than 24 hours of care per day.
Summer Camps
Regulated by the NJ Department of Health. Summer Camp Programs are offered full or part time through a wide variety of options. Care can be selected in a traditional camp setting, a licensed child care center, sports program, or an academic program.
Youth Camps
Youth camps are licensed under the Youth Camp Safety Act of New Jersey and possess a certificate issues by the New Jersey Department of Health and provide services wholly or in part for recreational and educations purposes to five or more children under the age of 18.
